NIGHT OF THE FALLING STARS

CHOREOGRAPHED BY ANNALEE TRAYLOR
PERFORMED MARCH 17TH-18TH, 2023

ABOUT EVERYBODY

Night of the Falling Stars is an evening-length, dance theatre work inspired by myth.  A cross-genre collaboration on all fronts:  from the costume design to the lighting installation, the hybridization of performance disciplines to the aural landscape, the performance seeks to express the purest and most authentic form of the word interdisciplinary. The moment the audience enters the Lund Theater they are transported, immersed in an environment that shapeshifts reality. Five extremely individualized characters, each inspired by an archetype, function as a mini society inhabiting a future apocalyptic world.  The characters come face to face with their own mortality, and in a desperate desire to transcend, are forced to confront their shadow selves. Poetically, provocatively, Night of the Falling Stars asks: what happens to us at the end of the world?

Night of the Falling Stars ran for two performances from March18th-19th. It was the graduating thesis project of CalArts Choreographer Annalee Traylor.
